The Alexandra man charged with indecently assaulting a Japanese woman last month has been remanded without plea for a fortnight.
The 57-year-old self-employed consultant has been granted interim name suppression in Queenstown District Court today (Monday).
It’s alleged the man, who was arrested on September 11, assaulted a 38-year-old woman at the Tucker Beach Reserve area.
The woman lives in Queenstown and attends a local English language school.
The man’s lawyer told Judge Kevin Phillips today that there was some dispute over interpretation of the Japanese woman’s statement to police.
The man has been bailed and is due to reappear in court on October 3.
