A tourist who allegedly stole a snowboard from a Queenstown shop was arrested after going for a burger across the road.
The Australian is accused of taking an $800 snowboard from Quest on Shotover Street on Friday afternoon while with a group of friends.
Later that night, staff spotted the group queuing less than 50 metres away at Fergburger.
“The board was taken from outside the shop,” Quest floor manager Nathan McKay says.
“They didn’t go very far at all. Literally over the road, idiots. There were at least six of them, a big group of drunk guys, not difficult to spot. It’s a small town.”
The YES 2012 Basic board was recovered from Snowbiz – where it had been taken to be waxed. The Australian was charged with theft.
