Queenstown’s Remarkable Theatre has hired an internationally-experienced director for its production this year of saucy play Calendar Girls.
Giles Burton (right), who hails from the UK, has recently been working in Nelson and Wellington and has been technical director of the Czech Republic’s Prague Film Festival since 2002.
In 2010, while based in Hong Kong, he was production/venue manager of the New Zealand International Arts Festival in Wellington.
Calendar Girls, by Tim Firth, is based on a film of the same name starring Helen Mirren and is described as a heart-warming story about friendship, love and the heartache of cancer.
Remarkable Theatre is seeking to cast nine female characters and four males.
Auditions will be held at the QPACT rooms on April 13 and 14, from 10am-4pm each day.
Production manager Melanie Grindell can be contacted for an audition pack and to book an audition time at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rehearsals begin in July.
The play runs from September 12-14 at the Queenstown Memorial Centre.
