Hotel concierge: My pleasure

A Queenstowner will represent New Zealand in a bid to be lauded as the best junior hotel concierge in the world.

Crowne Plaza leisure concierge Nathan Wise contests the Andy Pongco Award at the Les Clefs d’Or world congress in Toronto, Canada, next month.

“I nominated Nathan because I believe he has all the attributes as a professional concierge to win this very prestigious honour,” says Franz Staufer, president of NZ’s Les Clefs d’Or concierge association.

“This will put NZ on the map in preparation for the international concierge conference which Queenstown will host in 2013.”

Wise, 30 – who’s up against seven other contestants – is the first concierge from Oceania to be nominated for the award, now in its fourth year.

Former Aussie Wise has been in his current role for six and a half years.

“It’s a great job, meeting people from all over the world and showcasing Queenstown.”

He’s auctioning an adventure package on TradeMe to finance his trip.
