Organisers are hoping to reel in plenty of entries – and plenty of fundraising dollars – at this year’s Glenorchy Fishing Competition.
The 37th annual comp, which serves as the main fundraiser for Glenorchy Playgroup, takes place on Saturday.
Last year’s event attracted about 140 people and raised more than $2000.
Organiser Jenny Huckstep says the team behind the comp hope for a big turnout again.
“Last year it was pretty nippy, pretty windy, but people still came out and still had a great day, so hopefully they’ll do the same again.
“Fingers crossed there are plenty of fish caught.”
Last year, 89 fish – a mixture of salmon and brown and rainbow trout – were reeled in.
Huckstep says the competition is the number one fundraiser for the group.
“It’s our biggest money-earner, it helps us keep running.”
The event runs from 6am-4pm at the head of the lake.
