Heritage tree transplant

Queenstowners (from left) Donalda Anderson, Frances Lewis and Joan Cooke snuggle up to a commemorative elm tree transplanted last week to the Gorge Road/Stanley Street reserve.

The tree was planted in St Omer Park in 1987 to celebrate 125 years of education in the district – the trio are all former Queenstown District High School pupils who served on the celebrations committee.

The elm was moved because of lakeside redevelopment by Ngai Tahu.
