Happiness is … a Xmas tree

Queenstown Airport’s carpark’s doubling as a Christmas tree farm tomorrow.

Coronet Peak ops manager Mark Somerville (pictured) says it’s the fifth — and almost certainly final — year the ski area’s held its ‘Happiness Trees’ sale, thanks to a shortage of accessible wilding pines.

Only about 80 trees will be chopped for the sale, which starts at 9am, so he’s urging locals to ‘‘get in quick’’ if they want one.

All money raised will be donated to Happiness House — in the past four years, Coronet’s raised more than $20,000 for the community support centre through Happiness Tree sales.
