A three-week Arrowtown exhibition featuring the grande dame of New Zealand art is being launched at The Hills Clubhouse.
An artist reception there next Wednesday for abstract painter Gretchen Albrecht, who held her first solo exhibition in 1964, will include music by multi-award-winning NZ composer Gillian Whitehead, who’ll also be present.
Ana Good will sing three songs by Whitehead accompanied on the Steinway baby grand piano by Gillian’s sister Joyce.
Albrecht and Gillian Whitehead are both Arts Foundation of New Zealand award winners.
Albrecht’s exhibition, Between Paint and Nature – 5 Decades, spanning five decades of her work, will open at Arrowtown’s Nadene Milne Gallery the next night.
The exhibition – running till March 29 – will be the first to showcase Albrecht’s new painting style using a rectangle-shaped canvas.
