Got to keep going

Lyttelton’s Marlon Williams will take a much-needed break from the quake in Queenstown this weekend.

The singer/songwriter for country band The Unfaithful Ways is playing at a special fundraiser concert in Arrowtown following Saturday’s Motatapu race, alongside a line-up of other Christchurch musicians.

Mountain Scene met Williams working his part-time job at the London Street Dairy in the earthquake-ravaged port town last weekend.

The store was one of only two open on the normally-bustling main street – the majority of the town’s commercial buildings are now deemed unsafe.

The dairy opened the day after the earthquake and Williams, 20, says it’s important to keep going.

“In some respects you’re still in shock but in other ways you’re trying to get back to normal.”
