Golfers tee off for charity

Altrusa Queenstown has donated $11,500 from its latest charity golf tournament to Jigsaw Central Lakes and Queenstown Lakes Family Centre.

Young told golfers at the prizegiving last Sunday that their services are seeing an increased number of clients due to “lots of stress and financial insecurity”.

Altrusa also donated $1500 to the Wakatipu Junior Golf Club.

Since its first charity tournament in 1991, $169,190 has been donated to Wakatipu community groups due to the generosity of local businesses and the golfers who’ve participated.

The men’s and women’s winners of last Sunday’s tournament, held in challenging weather at the Kelvin Heights course, were Tony Stanton and Sue Cunningham,

The Queenstown Golf Club once again hosted the tournament for free.
