Golfers blown away

QUEENSTOWN Golf Club workers spent Saturday morning clearing debris, including this tree near the ninth green at Kelvin Heights.

Workers cleared three or four other small trees also blown over during last Friday’s gale, says chief executive Michael Shattock. “We were open for eight o’clock,” he says.

Friday’s winds forced Shattock to close early.

“One chap hit a ball off the fourth, he skied it and it came back over his head. So at that stage I thought it was time to shut the course.”
