It was standing-room only at a large mass auction at Bayleys Queenstown last week.
About 80 people attended when Auckland-based Bayleys national auction manager Campbell Dunoon put 29 properties to the bid last Thursday.
Despite the turnout, no properties sold under the hammer – local Bayleys owner David Murray reports several sold unconditionally afterwards.
These include a luxurious Veint Crescent house, a five-bedroom Speargrass Flat Road home and the mortgagee sale of an exclusive Closeburn Station section – all sold for undisclosed prices.
Murray says negotiations continue on close to half the properties offered.
“It’s heartening that we got bidders on most of the properties, including some overseas interest, although the auction also demonstrated some price gap between buyers and sellers.”
