An Australian lesbian couple have tied-the-knot in Queenstown after winning a luxury wedding day in a competition.

Jess and Kate Lawrence married at a local hotel on Thursday in one of the resort’s first same-sex weddings.

The Newcastle couple won the Gay Ski Week QT wedding competition.

“We’re over the moon to have won such a fantastic prize of the perfect wedding,” Jess says.

“It was our dream wedding and the perfect start to forever.”

The Lawrences were named winners of the package, organised by Queenstown Wedding Association, after the original winners withdrew for family reasons.

They married at Trelawn Place in Arthur’s Point in front of 16 family and friends who flew over from Australia.

Photographer Fredik Larsson captured the moment before they were whisked away by The Helicopter Line to Cecil Peak.

The couple stayed at Novotel Queenstown as part of the prize and also celebrated with bubbles, a wedding cake, flowers and luxury transportation as part of the package.
