Firm’s wall-to-wall conservation credentials

A Queenstown tourism company has launched a new community space, complete with a vibrant living wall.

Ziptrek Ecotours revealed the space, in its Camp Street office, on Monday.

The space will be available outside of Ziptrek hours for talks for small gatherings of community groups and organisations.

Its first event was the Tourism Role in Conservation talk, in support of Conservation Week.

Ziptrek founder Trent Yeo says while some in the tourism industry have been working hard for a long time, others needed to make more of a commitment to community contribution.

“Tourism in general could do a much better job,” he says.

Staff put together the living wall over the space of a couple of weeks.

He calls the project “a bit of an experiment”.

The space had been used in the past for staff yoga and movie nights, but had never been opened to the public.

“We’re open to ideas,” Yeo says.
