Ferrari, Merc and lavish parties

Hot-shot developer Rod Nielsen rolled into Queenstown i

n 2001 to spend millions on high-end developments.

His taste for luxury didn’t stop there – while living in the resort, he drove a red Ferrari and lived in a swanky Queenstown Hill home known locally as “The Plasma Screen”.

Nielsen was also known to generously flash his wealth around – hosting a lavish New Year party at Eichardt’s Private Hotel.

In 2005 he married local girl Sirene Millar in Fiji – it’s understood Nielsen put 60 wedding guests up on a boat for three nights and bought Millar a late-model silver Mercedes sports car as a wedding present.

Two years later, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to concentrate on off-shore developments, he claimed.

The couple has a young son and Millar – who couldn’t be contacted – is understood to still live in Queenstown.
