Earthquakes felt in Queenstown

Queenstown awoke this morning to a series of rumbling earthquakes.

The largest – a 5.2 magnitude quaked classed as severe – had an epicentre 10km north-east of Milford Sound.

It hit at a depth of six km at 7.41am.

Nine smaller quakes, between 3.0 and 4.4 in magnitude, rocked the same area over the next hour.
