Driver survives flipping car on ski road

An Otago University student has escaped with no injury after flipping his car on a Queenstown ski field access road.

The 20-year-old was heading down The Remarkables road at 4.10pm on Monday when his car slid and ended up on its roof.

Senior constable Sean Drader says it was about 4km from the bottom.

“He was going fast enough around a corner for the rear of the car to slide, and he was unable to recorrect.

“NZSki takes driving complaints on that road very seriously and staff and regular users are quick to report offences.”

It’s understood police are considering laying a careless driving charge.
