DQ increases marketing firepower

Former long-time Real Journeys manager Tracey Maclaren is joining Destination Queenstown as temporary convention centre manager.

Tracey Maclaren – a former DQ director – is providing one-year maternity cover for Kylie Brittain.

Her role as Real Journeys’ local operations boss was recently made redundant following an executive restructure.

Maclaren, who’s overseeing centenary celebrations for the Earnslaw steamer this month, starts at DQ on November 19.

She was also formerly Real Journeys’ conference and incentive manager.

Another high-powered DQ recruit will be Tourism New Zealand’s China media advisor Christiana Zhu.

Zhu, who is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, joins DQ as trade marketing executive on October 29, reporting to international markets manager Ben Chapman.

She’s in Queenstown this Friday for a Tourism NZ seminar on Chinese and halal tourism.

DQ is also appointing Cardrona skifield marketing coordinator Charlie Curel as its online and market insights executive.

Curel, who will report to Australasian marketing manager Lisa Nilsen, starts November 12.

DQ boss Graham Budd is delighted with the three appointments.
