The winner of MasterChef New Zealand Nadia Lim has been sizing up a Queenstown restaurant’s offerings over lunch.
Lim, who won this year’s series of the TV One show, dined at Bathhouse Restaurant on Queenstown Bay with broadcaster Kerre Woodham today (Friday). Woodham was scheduled to appear tonight at a Paper Plus “Books & Bubbles” engagement in Alexandra to promote Woodham’s latest book.
Their chef today, Varick Neilson, is himself a former TV personality from the reality show, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner.
Lim raved about Neilson’s calamari salad: “It’s inspired me for a calamari-type recipe.”
She’s no stranger to Queenstown – “I was student at Otago University for four or five years and we used to make trips to Queenstown every now and again when we had saved up.”
Media personality Woodham, best known for her night-time radio talk show, says she’s been “very fortunate to be here on a number of occasions”.
“But one of these days I’m going to block two weeks out of my diary and I’m going to come down here and all I’m going to do is play and eat and drink.
“I’m sick of coming down here for work.”
Woodham was also impressed with Neilson’s cooking.
“I had the chowder, it was superb.
“It wasn’t a lazy man’s chowder, it was an intelligent chowder.
“The flavours were subtle and fabulous – he didn’t try to over-cream it.”
Woodham is also guest speaker tomorrow at the Motel Assocation of New Zealand’s annual conference in Queenstown.
