Doing my bit for the Coasters

A big-hearted Queenstown photographer has put together a stunning calendar to raise cash for the Pike River mine tragedy.

In the weeks following last November’s disaster in which 29 miners died near Greymouth, Jason Law (left) travelled the West Coast taking snaps of dazzling scenery for the colourful compilation, which he also helped design.

“We have raised about $7000 already,” Law says.

“So far, we’ve got the calendar in selected Warehouse stores and all Kodak Express outlets nationwide.”

Law recently returned to Queenstown after spending time in Auckland and Wellington promoting the project for the Pike River Relief Trust. A $10 portion from each calendar sold goes directly to the charity.

“There are many people on the West Coast and elsewhere who have been affected by this tragedy and we just hope to be able to help them financially in the upcoming months,” Law adds.

The calendar is available locally at Kodak Express in Beach Street for $34.99. It can also be bought online from
