Curfew part lifted

A Queenstown restaurateur fighting a 10pm curfew on outdoor dining and drinking has won an exemption for smokers.

The Bunker owner Cameron Mitchell was last month served an abatement notice by council regulator Lakes Environmental, requiring him to close his upstairs courtyard at 10pm for breaching his resource consent.

Mitchell successfully applied to the Environment Court for a stay of the abatement notice for smokers.
