A man was cut from his vehicle after a two car crash on State Highway 6 on the Queenstown side of Shotover Bridge this morning.
Fire crew worked for about 45 minutes to get the man out of his vehicle, which came to rest on a steep grass verge up the hill from the Tucker Beach Road intersection.
He was then lifted onto a stretcher and taken to hospital.
Acting Sergeant Jon Bisset says the driver of the other vehicle walked from his car, but was also injured.
“We are at the initial stages of the investigation and don’t know the cause of the accident at this time.”
Both vehicles ended up on a steep verge next to the highway.
Police were called to the scene shortly before 9am this morning.
Both men have been taken to Lakes District Hospital.
