Cops looking for ex-prisoner in Queenstown

Queenstown police are on the hunt for an ex prisoner who has breached his release conditions.

A warrant to arrest Tony Ashley Gorrie, 42, has today (Friday) been issued and police warn he should not be approached.

Gorrie was released from Invercargill Prison two weeks ago after serving half an eight-month sentence for stealing a wallet, driver licence, $400 cash, passport and firearms licences, and for being unlawfully in a building in Queenstown last May.

He has previously faced fraud and theft charges and has evaded police for breaching prison release conditions in 2008 and May 2011.

Police believe he has been in Queenstown and in Timaru yesterday.

He was last seen wearing a grey top and a white beanie. Gorrie is 185cm tall and has tattoos on his chest, neck and arms.

If he is spotted people should call 111.
