Fireworks, a silk performer, Santa Claus, men in tutus, Christmas carols and some of the biggest hit songs from the past two years proved a winning combination in Queenstown on Saturday night.

Christmas Cracker director Simon Green said about 2000 people attended the second annual outdoor Christmas concert, comprising more than 250 performers – all Queenstown residents.
A few light rain showers were not enough to dampen the Christmas spirit on the Queenstown Recreation Ground, with the atmosphere building as the show progressed.
As always, the Remarkables Men’s Ballet troupe – this year backed by Green singing Robbie Williams’ Angels – was a crowd favourite, while 12-year-old Greta Balfour, of Queenstown, captivated the audience with her haunting rendition of A Great Big World’s Say Something.
As the show progressed, traditional Christmas songs gave way to some of the today’s biggest hits.
“I don’t think I’ve ever produced a show that’s had so many No 1 hits from the last year or two,” Mr Green said.
