Wakatipu High’s jazz band Best Served Chilled has home advantage at one of JazzFest’s two Jumpstart competitions this weekend.
The 14-piece band normally has to travel away for competitions, so it’ll be nice to have it on home turf, music teacher Alison Price says.
“We’re an isolated school so we don’t get to competitions often. And the students certainly don’t have the opportunity to see this amount of jazz happening in town.”
The band hopes to get to the finals of the youth competition for 12 to 17-year-olds at the Village Green on Sunday.
