Big-hearted Irish visitor John Kehoe is all smiles as he hands over cheques totalling $624.70 to Wakatipu Senior Citizens Association coordinator Pauline Bailey.
Kehoe, 27, from Waterford, raised half the money from gold coin donations at a leaving party he organised at Queenstown’s Surreal bar and restaurant.
The party for him and his mates had an elderly dress-up theme.
The rest of the cash was stumped up by Surreal, which matched donations dollar for dollar.
“I used to live in Queenstown and while I was back here on holiday I thought it would be nice to do something for the local senior citizens,” bar worker Kehoe says.
He returned to Ireland last weekend after spending three weeks in the resort
