All smiles: Season of Shred volunteers flaunt their new Mons Royale stash at Atlas Beer Cafe

By MATTHEW MCKEW

A cash injection’s been given to Queenstown’s mountain biking community through a huge fundraiser run by a resort bar.

Atlas Beer Cafe raised $16,795 through their annual Season of Shred fundraiser to support trail building and maintenance work carried out by Queenstown Mountain Bike Club.

General manager Wes McAllister says this was the biggest haul yet and thanks Royal Trees for a $1000 donation and Mon Royale for $500.

‘‘The mountain bike club’s filled with legends who have been determined to keep the bike trails in the best condition whilst improving and building more,’’ McAllister says.

The fundraiser itself, back in November, comprised a Vertigo McNearly Serious Race series at Wynard Jump Park, raffle tickets, a live auction and a party.

McAllister: ‘‘This event is a lot of work for the Atlas team and the amazing volunteers, we are excited with the outcome.’’
