If you see one of these Whakatipu residents driving a vehicle next week, you can probably dob them in.
From left, Will Grigor, Heath Copland, Jen Mitchell, Angela Spackman and Ken McIntyre — representing, respect ively, the essential worker, the councillor, the working parent, the business leader and the teacher — are undertaking a ‘test the network’ challenge devised by local active travel trust, The Lightfoot Initiative.
Their challenge is to ditch their cars for seven days and go about their daily business by bus, bike, walking or sharing a carpooling ride.
To help, Otago Regional Council’s thrown in free bus rides and ChargeAbout’s supplying e-bikes.
‘‘We’re keen to kickstart summer and do what we can to get people moving,’’ Lightfoot chair Amanda Robinson says.
