We all came home from our 12 days at Branches Camp buzzing with excitement, full of stories – famous and infamous – and frankly quite exhausted.
Branches saw us rafting, kayaking, canyoning, abseiling, rock climbing, shooting, team-building and swimming in the icy waters of Lochnagar, Polnoon Burn and the Shotover River.
We were all resilient to the challenges that Branches Camp threw our way, like holding our breath while inside the not-so-classy long-drops, biting our tongues while being attacked by spear grass on the Lochnagar tramp, living without our personal slaves (parents) for 12 days and being awoken by the banging and crashing of pots and pans which became an early-morning routine.
Overall Branches was an awesome experience that is unlike any other in New Zealand schools. We had so much fun and really bonded as a year group as well as learning self-management skills that will prove invaluable as we look towards our first taste of NCEA exams next year.
