Fuelled by a passion for riding, Queenstowners Tane Symons (left) and Duncan Smith have opened the resort’s first dedicated motorcycle workshop.
Former local skifield boss Smith has ridden motorbikes for more than 35 years, and Symons is a qualified motorcycle technician who races bikes.
The Wakatipu has a surprising number of motorcycles, including quad, farm, and trail bikes, which have usually been serviced out of town, Smith says.
Operating in Frankton’s Glenda Drive, Queenstown Motorcycles offers servicing and repairs, including full rebuilds, but as business cranks up the partners will also look at selling bikes and accessories.
Smith, who had 23 years managing local skifields and still sits on the NZSki board, says he’ll stay on the administration side.
