Major tourism player Southern Discoveries is going places – including the top of Queenstown Mall.
The company will run a visitor information centre in premises currently leased as a booking office by its business rivals Real Journeys and Shotover Jet.
When the doors open in October, following a complete facelift, Southern Discoveries will shut its information and booking centre in nearby Shotover Street.
“This is one of the most high-profile and high foot-traffic sites in the CBD and it is ideally positioned at the gateway to the town centre in full view of all new visitors into Queenstown,” general manager John Robson (above) says.
“As we continue to invest in new products and experiences in Milford, Te Anau and Queenstown, we need to increase our street presence.”
The centre will be the information base for Southern Discoveries products including Milford excursions and its new Queenstown catamaran, launching next summer. It’ll also book local jetboat operator K Jet which Southern Discoveries half-owns and bus carrier InterCity.
