Getting people on the roads: Queenstown Driving School's AA driving instructor Daniel Sutherland

By LUCY WORMALD

After a three-year hiatus, AA Driving School is back in Queenstown.

Operating under Queenstown Driving School, AA driving instructor Daniel Sutherland has recently moved to the resort and wants to help get people on the roads.

Sutherland, who spent 10 years as a primary school teacher in Taupo before taking up
driver training in 2018, says he’s enjoyed teaching his entire life.

‘‘The skills I built up during my time teaching in the school classroom proved very transferable, making for a smooth transition into the car.

‘‘Getting a driver’s licence is a significant moment in a young person’s life, and seeing the progression of students from one level and advancing to another is great to see,’’ he says.

Previously a driving coach for New Zealand’s Street Smart programme and running defensive driving courses, Sutherland will teach drivers across the Whakatipu, and in Wānaka, Cromwell and Alexandra.
