Veteran Queenstown tourism operator Chris Smith has sold his long-established Info & Track business to 4WD firm Nomad Safaris.

“The investment is a natural progression for the companies, which are both well established,” Nomad owners David and Amanda Gatward-Ferguson say.

Info & Track, which Smith established 25 years ago, has an activities booking office in Shotover Street and also runs ski transport to Cardrona, Treble Cone, Snow Park and Snow Farm.

In summer, its offerings include Glenorchy track transport, guided walks and scenic Lord of the Rings 4WD trips.

Nomad runs off-road sightseeing, quad-bike, charter and 4WD tours.

“There’s plenty of opportunity for cross-pollination that can grow both businesses,” David Gatward-Ferguson says.

“We want to introduce Info & Track to a more international market through the Nomad business base, while introducing backpackers to the activities and personalised off-road tours offered by Nomad through Info & Track channels.”

Nomad formally takes over Info & Track on August 1.
