Queenstown PR firm founders split

The owners of prominent Queenstown public relations firm Southern PR are parting ways.

Long-time local Alexa Forbes will leave the company she set up with Fiona Woodham 16 years ago.

Woodham has bought Forbes’ shares in the business to become the sole director, while Forbes is leaving to pursue other interests, beginning with full-time study.

The change of ownership takes effect at the end of this month.

In a statement issued today, Woodham says the partnership has been one of many highs, building a business from scratch into a highly successful PR agency with national and international reach.

“Southern PR has more experience and understanding of the tourism industry in particular, and its challenges and opportunities, than any other PR company in New Zealand,” she says.

“Alexa and I, with the help of fabulous staff, have built the business together over the years developing strong client, industry and media relationships that have benefited all stakeholders.”

Under the new ownership structure the company will continue to deliver the same exceptional service and results for which it is renowned, Woodham adds.

“Southern PR is very much looking forward to continuing those relationships, many of which were developed in the first year of operation, as well as welcoming new clients and projects.”
