Queenstown casino trust dishes out to community

Queenstown community groups are benefiting from the latest handouts by the local casino operator.

Lakes District Museum in Arrowtown gets the largest grant of $10,000 for redevelopment of its geology and music displays.

The Kelvin Peninsula Community Association is getting $4000 for fencing of their multi-purpose sporting facility at Jardine Park.

The money from the SkyCity Queenstown Casino Community Trust is among more than $95,000 dished out this year, taking the total trust grants to $1.18 million since it started 11 years ago.

Applications for next year’s Trust grants open in June, 2014.

SkyCity Queenstown general manager Michelle Baillie says the company – preferred operator of a proposed Queenstown convention centre – is proud to continue to play a significant role in the community.
