Queenstown Inc is in good heart, if a new Chamber of Commerce survey is anything to go by.
The latest business confidence survey of the Queenstown group, run by Ann Lockhart, drew 137 member responses during late January and early February.
More than half the businesses – 54.5 per cent – reported Christmas-New Year trading was up, compared with the same peak period previously.
Nearly 60 per cent also believe the local economy will improve during the coming six months, with the same number confident their own business will also grow.
Skilled staff are proving harder to find for 28 per cent of businesses – other worries in the coming six months are visitor numbers, staff costs and exchange rates.
