Queenstown Airport Corporation is announcing two key management appointments today (Wednesday).

Airside operations manager Mark Harrington has been promoted after two years to general manager of operations, starting December 1.

Sean Thompson shifts from Auckland in January to become QAC’s general manager of property.

Airport boss Scott Paterson says the new roles will strengthen and future-proof key aspects of the airport’s operations.

“With the skill sets and experience Mark and Sean have in their respective areas, I’m confident they will help us become a stronger and more successful company.”

Harrington – who’ll take responsibility for airside and terminal developments – trained in both architecture and as a pilot, and served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as an officer in its property and infrastructure group.

Thompson has had more than six years in business development and asset management positions at Auckland Airport, which owns a quarter of Queenstown Airport.

Queenstown Airport is NZ’s fourth largest airport.

It hosted 1.2 million passengers in its past financial year.
