Passengers of Australian airline Qantas will have access to a new premium passenger lounge at Queenstown Airport this winter.
The Manaia Lounge, catering for up to 75 guests, will replace the Queenstown Airport Corporation’s first-floor administration office and will offer uninterrupted views of the Remarkables mountain range.
Aviation ground-handling company PlaneBiz, which operates Qantas’ Christchurch lounge, will fit out and manage the lounge on behalf of Qantas and its partner airlines.
Features will include stylish and comfortable furnishings, dedicated bathrooms, complimentary WiFi, hot and cold beverages and freshly-prepared food.
To allow an eight-week fitout to commence, QAC will relocate its offices to the ground floor, next to baggage reclaim, in mid-May.
Airport chief executive Scott Paterson says: “With Qantas going daily between Sydney and Queenstown this winter and the new Emirates alliance opening us up to further long-haul markets, we’re delighted to have the opportunity to offer premium facilities to these travellers.”
Qantas earlier this week announced it will be the airline partner for this year’s 40th Queenstown Winter Festival.
