The general manager of Arrowtown’s Millbrook Resort is to become a director.

David Onions, who’s had three and a half years in the post, is moving to a non-executive directorship.

Onions will “pursue community and other goals”, a statement released today (Monday) states.

Managing director Gota Ishii will continue his management duties at the luxury accommodation and golf resort.

Onions will join Ishii and his father, chairman Eichii Ishii, on the board of Millbrook Country Club Ltd.

Onions says he’s delighted with the new arrangement, which takes effect next Monday.

“I have very much enjoyed working at Millbrook Resort and am inordinately proud of what has been achieved here.

“I’m looking forward now to stepping back from day-to-day operations to be involved at a more strategic level.”

Gota thanks Onions for his contribution and welcomes him to the board.

“It is very much business as usual at Millbrook with no changes planned to our daily operations,” Gota says.
