An executive at Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ two Queenstown properties has been promoted to general manager.

Andrew Nisbet replaces Marlene Poynder, who’s been appointed to another Hilton Hotels & Resorts project.

Nisbet – who’s been Kawarau Hotel hotel manager and director of operations for Hilton Queenstown and Kawarau Village since February last year – takes over 12 months after the two hotels opened.

Nisbet brings 13 years of Hilton management experience to his new role.

Prior to his Queenstown appointment, he was director of operations for Hilton Brisbane and for Hilton Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh, one of Scotland’s premier hotels.

“I am looking forward to leading an exceptionally committed team to drive the business forward and expand on its early success, as well as continuing to develop relationships within the local community,” Nisbet says.

Poynder has been appointed in another project for Hilton Worldwide.

“I am grateful to all the Queenstown locals I’ve met who have embraced Kawarau Village, and all the businesses, producers and winemakers in Central Otago that I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

“I feel privileged to have spent time in such a special community, working with a passionate and driven team who are totally committed to delivering an exceptional level of hospitality in Queenstown.”

Nisbet, who takes over from June 1, will inherit an operation that’s humming – Hilton Queenstown, was recently named on the influential Conde Nast Traveler 2012 Hot List.
