Its sudden closure’s sparked plenty of chatter, but a Queenstown petrol station’s not gone for good.
Mobil Queenstown in Frankton shut up shop almost overnight last weekend, with the store cleared out and fencing springing up around the site.
The franchise owners haven’t responded to requests for comment, but Mobil NZ says it’s “temporarily ceased operation” following the expiration of the site dealer’s lease agreement with the property owner. In a statement, the company apologises for any inconvenience.
“Mobil is actively working with the site property owner to introduce a number of enhancements to the site, before the new-and-improved Mobil Queenstown re-opens in early 2019.”
Caltex Queenstown’s agreed to accept Mobilcards in the meantime.
