Mitre 10 a cut above

A plank rather than a ribbon was cut to officially open Queenstown’s Mitre 10 Mega hardware store at Shotover Park last Thursday.

Jason Smith (left), managing director of store owner H&J Smith, performed the honours along with his father and former managing director Acton Smith, who’s also ex-deputy chairman of the Mitre 10 New Zealand board.

The $20 million store, including a drive-through, garden centre, cafe and children’s playground, is about three times the size of the former Mitre 10 store at Queenstown’s Remarkables Park.
