Many hands make light work

Ross Beal is part of a new electrical fusion in Queenstown.

He’s the boss of Total Power Services, a new company formed by the merger of three other electrical companies – Peak Power Distribution in Queenstown and Wanaka, and Otematata firm LazerTech.

Peak Power’s core business has been in high-voltage power reticulation for big power generation networks in Central Otago – previous jobs include hooking up the lighting for skifields and big subdivisions.

LazerTech specialises in transformer repairs and maintenance, as well as substation construction.

Beal says he’s been hired by all three company owners to drive the “transition” into the new company, based at its Glenda Drive head office.

All staff will be kept on.

Beal says of the move: “It’s a bit of a drive against the trend, with the amount of retrenchment that’s going on.

This is taking a step forward with a degree of confidence.”

The new company will start operating from April 1.
