Long arm of the law

Local legal eagle Jim Castiglione (left) and visiting partner Michael Wolfe of Christchurch celebrate the Queenstown launch of major Canterbury law firm Lane Neave.

“The [local] office is a very important step in our vision to become the South Island’s pre-eminent law firm,” says Wolfe, pointing out Lane Neave won five of 11 specialist awards at the recent New Zealand Law Awards.

Castiglione will head the new branch, which Wolfe says will “offer specialist services not always available in Queenstown”.

He predicts a 15-strong team over time, including three or four partners.

Arriving here six years ago, Castiglione first practised with Anderson Lloyd before working as in-house counsel for local businessman John Davies’s family company.

He says Lane Neave, founded in 1868, already has a number of key local clients.
