A former Auckland ‘A’ list restaurant head chef is bringing his culinary talents to the new Boatshed Cafe at Frankton.
Shaun Fa’amalepe (left), who has previously worked at Auckland’s Euro, will be head chef at the new cafe in the renovated historic boatshed complex at Frankton Marina.
Boatshed Cafe is owned by Jane Shaw (centre) – who co-owns Arrowtown’s popular Provisions Cafe – and her husband Hal.
Jane Shaw says: “Shaun’s an amazing chef, so the food will be fantastic but still very real. We’re not fine dining.
It’ll be casual food – tapas style dining and brunches. Locals will appreciate the cafe. It’s not in the tourist fray but part of our community, which I think is charming and sets it apart.”
The cafe, being managed by Gypsy West (right), is to open next Friday and will employ more than six staff.
Operating hours are 7am-10pm Thursday through Sunday, and 7am-5pm Monday to Wednesday.
