Fergburger empire expands

Queenstown’s famous Fergburger empire is continuing its expansion along Shotover Street – onwards and upwards.

Having opened Fergbaker and, more recently, icecream parlour Mrs Ferg alongside its burger joint, the business plans to open a function centre.

Ferg Functions will operate above Fergbaker and Mrs Ferg in premises earlier occupied by real estate agency Re/Max.

“We’ve acquired the lease and done a nice refit,” Fergburger GM Steve Bradley says.

“It’s not our main business - a little opportunity popped up.”

Bradley agrees catering won’t be a problem: “We’ve got some food experience.”

However he won’t comment on rumours the business also plans a butchery or smallgoods outlet beside Fergburger.

Sharon Holland, who owns neighbouring hair salon Cutting Edge, confirms she’s sold her lease and will move out later this year.

Asked if Fergburger’s bought the lease, she replies: “I would guess so.”
