A decorative loaf from Fergbaker – offshoot of Queenstown’s well-known Fergburger – is displayed by retail manager Vicki Onions.
The bakery – selling pies, pastries, sandwiches, artisan breads and cakes – opened this week beside Fergburger in premises formerly occupied by the long-established Beefeater Steakhouse.
Treats include wild deer and mushroom pie, garlic cheese fougasse, blueberry pie, Ferg’s lemon meringue pie and hot chillis and chowders served in a sourdough bread bowl.
“The menu, from design concept to final product presentation, is a reflection of and credit to the eclectic team of talented bakers and staff working in the bakery,” Onions says.
Trading hours are 7.30am to 5am daily.
A lucky punter will win a year’s supply of Fergbaker pies during opening celebrations this weekend.
