Wakatipu man Dwayne Quirk is bringing booze to your doorstep.
The Queenstown businessman is planing to offer home delivery of alcohol orders to most Wakatipu residences from next week.
Quirk, the owner of Queenstown’s Xtreme Bar and Thirsty Liquor bottle shop, says he’ll be charging a $5 flat delivery fee, whether it’s going downtown or to Lake Hayes.
Quirk plans to set a minimum purchase order of $20 and will deliver as far as Arthur’s Point and Lake Hayes Estate but not out to Arrowtown.
No drinks order will be considered too large.
“The bigger, the better,” he says.
The service will come equipped with mobile eftpos.
“No one does it in town – we did it here 10 years ago and got very busy and had two vehicles and were doing deliveries seven days a week.”
Quirk says back then he sold it to someone who was doing food deliveries as well and it continued for several years but he’s not sure what happened after that.
Initially, the revived service will run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm to 11pm.
Quirk intends to kick the service off next Thursday, October 11.
“Places like Frankton and Lake Hayes are where we want to go for it, “Quirk says.
“The other thing we’re aiming for is businesses at Glenda Drive having after-work drinks.”
