Downtown bar grows in size


Bunker owner Cameron Mitchell is ready for a big evening in his newly refurbished and extended Queenstown bar tomorrow night. 

Not only is it Bunker bar’s official reopening, it’s also Mitchell’s 40th birthday. 

The sole owner has spent six figures refurbishing the premium Cow Lane watering hole – with construction company Cook Brothers doing the work in two-and-a-half weeks. Cook Brothers installed new toilets, extended the bar and knocked out a wall opening up the storage area/staff room as part of the venue. 

“They were absolutely phenomenal. And it was in dire need of a refurb,” Mitchell says. 

Queenstowner Luke Baldock handled the design work. 

Mitchell first managed Bunker in 2002 before buying in in 2006. He bought out his co-owners three-and-a-half years ago.
