Brazz owner goes underground

A massive late-night bar-restaurant will fill the basement of Queenstown’s old Outside Sports building.

Brazz owner Pete Jefford confirms his new food and beverage operation, employing about 25 staff, will occupy the 450 square metre space.

It’s right next-door to the popular Fergburger hub in Shotover Street.

Jefford’s hoping to open the doors before Queenstown Winter Festival kicks off on June 19.

“It has been key in the overall design process to come up with a hospitality mix that best suits this unique underground venue.

“The offering is aimed to have broad appeal to a wide audience.”

He anticipates getting a 4am liquor licence.

In February, Mountain Scene reported retailers North Face and Barkers will occupy the ground floor of the building.

Another retailer is set to join them - clothing brand Huffer.

Huffer Clothing began in Auckland in 1997. It has three Auckland stores and supplies more than 100 stockists around NZ and Australia.
